Most Powerful Women
http://www.welt.de/english-news/article2373051/Forbes-list-2008.html
I saw a link to this article but was disappointed when I looked through all of the top one hundred and didn’t find one picture of Bethy! All of these women were considered the “most powerful” for their ability to talk, sell things, or tell other people what to do (granted, I’m over simplifying).
I don’t mean any disrespect to the good that many of these women have brought about, but the more I learn about the inevitable approach of eternity, the more I’m convinced that the work my wife does with my children in guiding them daily toward eternal life will be heralded, praised, and honored by generations who will recognize her efforts as providing the GREATEST of all benefits. She will be remembered for her vision and leadership when so many others lost sight of the goal. She’ll be revered for her enthusiasm and diligence with little or no recognition. And she’ll be reverenced for the lasting power she demonstrated in what she chose NOT to do.
She, and the other mothers out there who have come to understand what matters most, are changing the world. Each individual child that leaves home knowing who they are and why they should be good joins a growing army of “Change.” There is no other way this can be accomplished.
I could not be more proud of her and honored that she chooses to keep me around.
Any other thoughts on this subject?
I looked through the list and most of them seemed to make sense. I will also voice my complaints on the omission of two VERY powerful women that I feel should have been included as numbers 2 and 1 respectively:
2. Wonder Woman. Not only does she have some formidable powers of her own (and she is an excellent fighter), but she has very powerful allies. Add in her lasso of truth? You have a very powerful woman on your hands.
1. Jean Grey-Summers (A.K.A. Marvel Girl, A.K.A. Phoenix). This woman is quite possibly the most powerful mutant to ever live. Not only can she read minds and access telekinetic powers, she is one of the few Omega-level mutants. Were Professor Xavier to not have placed a mental block in her mind to keep her from accessing the full potential of her powers, the world most assuredly would have been destroyed in her youth. Also, she has flaming red hair that hurts just to look at.
Thank you for your thoughts on mothers since there are days when the work one is doing as a mother doesn’t seem to be making a huge difference! Keeping that perspective is key!
John, I was so excited to see all references to superhero women in the google ads since your comment was posted. And you’re right, Gene Grey is, perhaps, the most powerful mutant to ever live. But only time will tell.
